Altered Mosaic Painted Bottle

I love to keep fun shaped bottles to alter in the future, and this Old Monk bottle looked too cool not to save with all the design that was just begging to have something done with it.  I had been saving the bottle for the better part of 2 years when the perfect project came along with the paints from Marabu, a match made in heaven!

Here is a video on how to make this bottle.

I started with an empty Old Monk Rum bottle.  It has a ton of nooks and crannies to create something really cool.

I used the Marabu glass and porcelain paint and paint pens to color all the amazing little parts of the bottle to make it look like a giant mosaic work of art.

I used the color straight out of the paint pots of the Marabu Porcelain Paints, from the Marabu Porcelain & Glas Painter Pens, and also mixed the colors to create new ones like teal and purple.

I coated the large section on the back, top, and front with the black paint.  I still have a space to add something fun to the back if I wish.

I also used the same paint to color the heart and flame pieces glued to the front of the bottle.  I also added a little flair with some chains and a heart pendant.

To top it all off I also added in some tear drop crystals to the top as a stopper.

What fun upcycle project have you done lately?

I was playing a bit with the projects when I first got them, on a porcelain tile to see how they all worked.  Check it out here!

Ultra Violet Paint Pouring - 4 EASY Puddle Techniques

I have always wanted to try paint pouring, and it s fun, messy and takes a ton of paint, but fun!!  So with my crafty friend Tina Walker doing a challenge to use the new Pantone color Ultra Violet I thought it would be a fun use for using the color of the year.

Here is the video on how to make these fun pours.

For all the pours I used the puddle method.  Each pour I did something a little different to see if they would work better or have a different result

1) Multiple Puddles Plus added Paint from Bottle
My first pour I did 3 small puddles and I also added a little blue and black paint straight from the bottles without adding any pouring medium to the paint.  I also add a very little paint to this pour so i moved it around a ton to get lots of extra lines.

2) Three Large Puddles
My second pour I used more paint and did 3 large puddles before swirling the paint around.

3) One Giant Puddle and Heat Gun
For this method I used one giant puddle and a ton of paint.  I then used my heat gun to move the paint around to give it coverage.

4) Adding Glitter to the paint with Multiple Puddles
I added some chunky glitter to the silver paint to see if it gave it a different effect.  It turned out really cool!  The glitter shows up a ton better in person on on the video!!!

Each pour had something different about that I loved.  I really am not sure which I like more.  I took the extra paint in the tub after the pours and painted some playing card for future ATC's and some plain cardstock as background paper for fun.

I used a heat gun on the paint as it was drying to get some cool texture.

I love this background paper, if would have made more but I ran out of drying room on my desk!  Now just what to use this cool paper with, hmm....

Dollar Tree Etched Shamrock Beer Stein

Need a fun and easy way to make something for St. Patrick's Day?  Look how cute this beer stein (or mug) looks with a simple etching of a shamrock on it.  Add your favorite beer, or green colored beer, for a festive St. Patty's Day celebration!!!

Here is the video on how easy this is to make, even if you do not have a shamrock die, use a heart!!

I got the stein or mug at the Dollar Tree.  They have them for sale for a $1 and are perfect to etch!!  I then used a heart die to create the shamrock shape in the Etchall Vinyl (see video for full details).

Apply the vinyl to the mug and then apply the Etchall Etching Creme and let it sit for 15 minutes to do its magic!!

Wipe off the etching creme and place back into the container, it is reusable!!!

Clean off the mug in the sick with water and then peal off the vinyl.  Dry it off and you have a fun Shamrock Stein ready for all the fun festivities!!!

Craft Room Tour & Craft Storage Ideas

I have never given a craft room tour of my studio, mostly because I feel like I needed to make it look perfect, but in reality who's crafty space is perfect?  So heck with it, let me show ya the real crafty space I work in, mess and all!!

Here is a video tour of my crafty room and a few fun storage ideas!!!

My craft space is a work on progress, here is my desk with a few extra packages stacked on top - fun happy mail from my card swaps!!

On my desk I store a ton of my crafting tools in various containers.  My current favorite is a set of tins I decorated.  Check out the video.

One my old favorites is a storage container I have had on my desk for the last 2 years that I decorated the outside of a long time ago in one of my first videos.  Just look how much it holds!!!

I loved the storage units I have around the room.  The big one is my Ikea wall unit.  It stores all the drawers, some are built in (the white and black) and some are also removable (the red units).

I have a few extra storage units above and around my computer desk.  I have some Deflecto storage containers such as the rotating one.  Here it is double stacked from when I first put it together filled with various trims, mesh, burlap and, other fun crafty supplies!

Here is the video on how I put this together!

I have a tilt bin behind my computer monitor that stores some of my extra inks.  Here is a video on how I put it together.

I also have a tilt bin unit above my computer desk for a ton of my trims and ribbons.  It looked super clean and organized when I first put it in.  It is still super functional and completely as organized as it was when I did it over a year ago!

Here is a video on how I organized my ribbons and trims and then also stored them into the tilt bins.

My room is organized for me to find things.  Some things are super organized, some are a cluttered mess, but it works for me!!  I have a small space to work in (10x10) and one whole wall is a window, which I love for the natural light and I get to look outside and see the world and nature around me.  I get to see my kids outside playing, the sunny days, the rain, and even snow on some rare occasions.  I love the saying a messy desk means you have a creative mind, well just take a look at my normal desk!

So there is my crafty room, my oasis for my creative mind, my little section of the house for where I create!!  Now head on over to see some other amazing crafty spaces and craft rooms!!  Angie Holden from The Country Cottage Chic is hosting a week long series of various craft rooms and tour and I am on the list for today!!  Check out the rest of them by clicking HERE or click on the picture below!!
